What Is Aquaponics
What is aquaponics and how does it work?
Many people have now been wondering, what is aquaponics? It’s about time that we put all this wondering to a stop and give them answers to their question. By now, you should know that aquaponics is a new farming technology which makes use of the process of symbiotic relationship between two forces of living things – animals and plants. Their relationship is symbiotic for the reason that both parties benefit from each other. The plants are used to feed the animals which refer to the fish and at the same time, the waste materials of the animals are used to fertilize and grow the plants.
So from there, you would basically know what is aquaponics. This is by far, the best system that is being used presently and it is also very remarkable since the plants are the ones responsible for making and supplying the fish clean water to live in. On the other hand, the presence of fish helps in the provision of proper nutrients for the growth of plants.
However, if you still wonder what is aquaponics, then we have to delve deeper and make things simpler. Aquaponics is the creation of a complete cycle of symbiosis wherein the plants help the fish and the fish help the plants. It is preferred by many and it tends to be the leading system in farming and fishery since it uses no chemicals; therefore, it is very natural and safe. This system must be regarded as a single entity rather than a separate one since it wouldn’t work without the other.
The system is made easy to understand and simple to follow. In order for aquaponics to work at its best, the water from the tanks is being pumped and pushed out to the Grow Beds or to the area where the plants are, and distributed properly through piping system. Thus, it is then very clear that the water coming from the fish tanks is being used to nourish the plants such as cucumber, potatoes, cabbage, lettuce and tomatoes. After which, the fish water goes back to the tank by force after it passes through a filtering process by the sand, gravel or river stones. With this, we are now given the picture that the tank water that is returned is now clean which makes the environment of the fish, a safer one to live in. This is how the relationship between the two forces of living things becomes symbiotic.
Knowing what is aquaponics means to know that this farming technique consists of tank with your own choice of fish with the presence of existing grow beds for vegetation. It is more recommended that anyone using this system makes use of both ornamental and native types of fish. The cycle in this system makes possible the homeostasis between the two living organisms thus contributing to their survival. Without the presence of the other, this aquaponics technique would never be possible and effective as it is right now. This is definitely environmental friendly that is why many choose to use this system. Now that you have a fuller grasp on the question What is Aquaponics?, you may want to spread this good news to anyone concerned.
